How to Host a Seminar

Seminar Check List

:Decide on the number of people you want to attend

Find a location large enough to accommodate the number of dog/handler teams you want to attend.  Tracking will take more space than cadaver due to the number of tracks that must be laid.

Contact LETS to select instructors for your seminar.  Figure on no more than 5 or 6 students per instructor to provide the best seminar.

Work up a budget, your budget should include:
instructor mileage
per diem
Housing for instructors
Costs of supplies – paper work copies, certificates etc.
Any fees for using the training grounds
Event insurance
A receipt book so you can track payments
Cost of t-shirts if you choose to do those

Contact LETS for copies of necessary paper work

Release forms (Everyone must sign one)

Test record sheets (two copies, one for the student and one which must be sent to LETS for permanent records)

Copies of the standards for tracking and cadaver

Open a bank account for the seminar only.

You will need to turn in the bank statements and deposit receipts when the seminar is over.

Contact Katherine Heselton at kathy@merrillsinvestigations.com for the address to send the certification money and copies of test forms to.  You will also send the bank statements and financial records to her.

Any leftover seminar fee money must also be returned to LETS at the end of the seminar.
